Yemen and Russia: Deepening the Economic Partnership

Mr. Ahmed Salem AL-WAHISHI, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Yemen Republic to the Russian Federation, honoured the Moscow International Financial and Economic Forum with his presence, and it was marked as a demonstration of mutual interest for renewal and for the extension of bilateral relations.

Ambassador's visit took place against the background of active steps to revive the Russian-Yemeni dialogue after a cooling period caused by the prolonged conflict in Yemen: in October 2025, after a four-year recession, the Russian President signed a resolution appointing an ambassador to Yemen, which was described as a signal of the transition "to a closer partnership."

Nowadays, economic relations between Russia and Yemen are showing positive trends, going beyond traditional trade. Agriculture, fishing, mining and energy have been identified as priority areas for profound cooperation, and now the Russian grain crops are the basis of the trade turnover. Yemen is interested in attracting Russian investments and technologies in its energy sector, including renewable energy.

The Executive Board of FBA EAC once more expresses gratitude to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Yemen to the Russian Federation, Mr. Ahmed Salem Al-WAHISHI, for participating in the Forum. This is not just a diplomatic gesture, but a reflection of the real process of restoring and proficient strengthening of the bilateral economic ties based on mutual interest and long-term prospects.
