On November 27th, His Excellency Sidati Cheikh Ould Ahmed Aicha, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to the Russian Federation, participated in the XI International Financial and Economic Forum held in Moscow. During a meeting with Li Shuobing, President of the Financial and Business Association of Euro-Asian Cooperation (FBA EAC), the Ambassador presented a detailed overview of Mauritania's resource potential and underscored the significance of fostering economic partnerships with Russia.
Ambassador Aicha highlighted Mauritania's abundant reserves of natural gas, oil, gold, and other minerals. He emphasized that these natural resources present substantial opportunities for bilateral cooperation in various sectors of the economy. The Ambassador stressed the importance of enhancing and deepening the existing ties between the two countries.
During the discussions, the parties identified key areas for potential collaboration. These included the comprehensive analysis of specific investment proposals from Mauritania, the establishment of strategic partnerships in the mining industry, and the implementation of new trade initiatives.
Ambassador Aicha, who assumed his diplomatic post in Moscow recently, has been actively engaged in familiarizing himself with the economic potential of various Russian regions. In his address, he emphasized the promising prospects for cooperation in the field of geological exploration and the establishment of joint ventures. These initiatives align with the broader trend of enhancing Russian-African relations. Moscow has been consistently strengthening its engagement with African countries, particularly in the energy and extractive sectors, in accordance with contemporary global economic dynamics.
Following the results of the forum, practical steps were formulated. The Russian side has committed itself to work out Mauritania's proposals and assist in establishing direct contacts between the business circles of the two countries.
From a strategic perspective, this partnership holds mutual benefits. Mauritania stands to diversify its economic base and access new markets. For Russia, the collaboration presents opportunities to further solidify its position in global resource and infrastructure projects.
