The inaugural meeting of the FBA EAC Committee on Science and Education for 2026 was convened in Vologda
On January 19, 2026, Vologda hosted an official meeting of the Committee on Science and Education of the Financial and Business Association of Euro-Asian Cooperation. The event was organized in accordance with a cooperation agreement with the Government of the Vologda region.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Anna Bezdudnaya, Deputy Head of the FBA EAC Committee on Science and Education. As part of the agenda, the delegation visited the Vologda Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, where Anna Geroldovna congratulated the staff on the center's 35th anniversary, highlighting its substantial contributions to regional scientific development. During the visit, discussions centered on potential collaboration opportunities, including the activities of specialized structures within the center, such as the Human Resources Center in Demography and the Laboratory for Bioeconomics and Sustainable Development.
The primary objective of the meeting was to develop the Committee's work plan for the current year, with a focus on the practical application and commercialization of scientific research. Participants reaffirmed the strategic commitment to organizing joint projects with Chinese partners, particularly the Shanghai Academy. Key initiatives included competitions for applied research and startup ventures aimed at identifying projects with clear market potential. Promising areas for such projects included agro- and food technology, particularly sugar crop processing, as well as biotechnology, materials science, and digital solutions for industry and agriculture within the Vologda region.
To facilitate these endeavors, specific cooperation formats were proposed, including joint research projects and laboratories, pitch sessions and startup competitions with the participation of experts and investors, and internship and exchange programs for young scientists. Particular attention was given to the staffing of future projects and the mechanisms for collaboration between research teams, including the exchange of researchers and the development of a motivation system. As practical measures, it was decided to establish a working group to liaise with the Vologda region's government and to select 2-3 pilot projects for implementation. It was emphasized that the legal framework for cooperation needed to be prepared in advance, including the drafting of confidentiality agreements and a clear delineation of intellectual property rights to ensure the successful commercialization of prospective results.
The inaugural meeting successfully consolidated the Committee's applied focus, aimed at developing effective tools for translating scientific potential into business solutions and strengthening international technological partnerships.
