New economic policy of the EAEU
At the plenary session of the IV “Eurasian Week”, the EEC and business will discuss the new economic policy of the EAEU
Within a week, representatives of government and business authorities, specialists from development institutions, financial regulators, and experts from the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will gather in Bishkek, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic, for the IV International Exhibition Forum “Eurasian Week”. The topic of the plenary session, which will be held on September 25, will be the challenges and prospects of the Eurasian business space.
2019 marks the 25th anniversary of the Eurasian project and the 5th anniversary of the signing of the EAEU Treaty. The Union confidently continues to confirm its status not only as a stable regional integration association of Eurasia, but also as a global player on the world stage.
Over this time, the Union has created basic conditions for the free work of the business community in five countries. Duties have been abolished, and a common market for services in 49 sectors has been created. However, not all the issues have been resolved yet. In particular, work continues to remove obstacles in the Union’s common market.
In addition, the Commission is actively developing cooperation with third countries and associations to help the business of the EAEU countries enter foreign markets. However, modern challenges in the global and regional context are encouraging to rethink the directions of the Union’s former economic policy and its role in cooperation with major global players.
The participants of the plenary discussion, business representatives from various fields, will try to find answers to a number of strategically important questions, namely:
· How has the functioning of the EAEU affected the work of the business community?
· How to increase the competitiveness of the Union’s industries?
· What are the optimal forms of cooperation with foreign partners in the current global context?
· What should be the new agenda of the Union?
The discussion will be moderated by Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sargsyan.
The following persons are invited to participate in the plenary session:
- Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev, Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Member of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council;
