"People create trust": Tudor Afanasov participated in the XI MIFEF

Tudor Afanasov, the President of the Romanian-Russian Chamber of Economic and Cultural Cooperation and the Head of the International Committee for Humanitarian and Social Policy of FBA EAC, participated in the forum and presented a strategic vision for the development of Romanian-Russian relations and potential areas of cooperation in the evolving economic landscape.

In his address, Afanasov emphasized that a stable partnership within the framework of the BRICS and BRICS+ alliances should be founded on a pragmatic approach, mutual respect, and an understanding of cultural nuances.

"The economy thrives where people feel at ease with one another. When an individual is respected, everything around them flourishes. Conversely, any project is likely to fail under pressure," the speaker stated, thus elucidating the fundamental principle of interaction.

Regarding the role of Europe, Afanasov suggested that it should be perceived in a dialogue with emerging growth centers not as a locus of competition, but as a realm of potential. In his view, overcoming the apprehension of change opens up opportunities for partnership, where European expertise in technology, education, and environmental management can be highly sought after.

A substantial portion of the presentation was dedicated to Romania's inherent advantages. Afanasov highlighted its unique geographical positioning along the Black Sea, the significance of the port of Constanța, industrial capabilities, and historical traditions of dialogue. He underscored that Romania's mission, akin to a bridge, is to facilitate connections rather than align with any particular side. According to him, this stance is not a political construct but a professional assessment of the country's genuine capacity to serve as a practical intermediary, fostering convenient working arrangements for partners.

The humanitarian segment of the speech addressed topics such as culture, historical memory, and social initiatives. Afanasov observed that culture creates an environment devoid of fear, and a shared historical memory, encompassing not only successes but also adversities, can bridge the gap between nations if they are willing to listen to one another.

Among specific areas for future collaboration, he emphasized the expansion of cultural and educational exchanges, the advancement of youth programs, the initiation of joint social projects, and the enhancement of logistical cooperation between the Black Sea region, Constanța, and Eurasia.

"What we require is not an architectural framework for cooperation, but its ecology—vibrant, adaptable, and people-centered. Documents provide the structure. People build trust," concluded Tudor Afanasov.

Participation in the forum afforded the opportunity to engage with international counterparts on concrete measures to bolster economic, humanitarian, and cultural cooperation between Romania and Russia.
