FBA EAC Industrial Committee Sets Priorities for Transition to a Circular Economy

On June 30, 2026, a regular meeting of the FBA EAC Industrial Committee took place, chaired by its Chairman Alexander Kotlyarsky and Deputy Chairman Sergey Korotkov, who also serves as an Advisor to the President of the FBA EAC. The session was attended by industry experts Vladimir Alentsin and Vladimir Maryev, along with Vladimir Komissarov, representing the Association for Waste Recycling and the Electrical Industry.

The participants discussed pressing issues in the development of the industrial sector, focusing on key topics such as the processing of industrial waste and the development of engineering human capital.

The accumulation of industrial waste was at the center of the discussion. The experts agreed that a modern approach requires planning production facilities as a unified complex with the maximum utilization of all subsurface resources. The transition to a circular economy entails the implementation of recycling technologies and the establishment of a full-cycle utilization of natural resources.

The meeting participants emphasized the need to move from discussions to "tangible action" and the launch of specific financial projects. As a practical example, they discussed solutions to waste management challenges for major Russian industrial enterprises.

To develop the most effective solutions for identifying and addressing the industry's environmental challenges, the participants outlined prospects for establishing ties and exchanging technologies with relevant enterprises in China and India. The international track was recognized as a vital instrument for accessing advanced technological solutions and best practices in industrial processing.

Following the meeting, a decision was made to develop a comprehensive specialized program. A key practical step will be the organization of a large-scale round table, with the first session scheduled for late September or early October 2026.

To ensure a comprehensive discussion of environmental issues and the search for effective solutions, the following entities will be invited to participate in the round table:

• The Foundation for Rational Natural Resource Management;

• Major Russian industrial enterprises;

• Leading national universities;

• Student research teams.

As the meeting participants noted, involving the student community and academic institutions will not only help build a talent pipeline for the industry but also provide a fresh perspective on technological challenges.
