From April 17 to April 18, 2025, Shanghai hosted the Eurasian Financial and Economic Forum 2025. The topic of the forum was “Financial Activation, Technological Progress, Sectoral Cooperation and Building Cultural Ties. Creating a New Ecosystem of High-quality Cooperation between Europe and Asia”. Representatives of various Eurasian organizations, experts, scientists, as well as representatives of industry and business circles took part in the forum and exchanged their opinions.
The forum included a session on innovations, which was attended by science and technology institutions, technology enterprises and industry experts from Eurasian countries. The participants held in-depth discussions on artificial intelligence, precision medicine, biotechnology and other cutting-edge areas, as well as the application of innovative technologies and artificial intelligence in society.
Ms. Wang Xia, Assistant Director of the Institute of Precision Medicine at Tsinghua University, spoke about the interdisciplinary practices implemented at the institute. This institute brought together more than 30 faculties and 200 experts to create an innovative model of “Medical-Industrial Integration” that could connect robotics, biomaterials and AI technologies more deeply.
Tudor Afanasov, President of the Chamber for Economic and Cultural Cooperation between Romania and Russia, presented examples of cooperation with Belgium, Germany and France, noting that the successful implementation of AI data management systems brings significant economic benefits to this cooperation. He said that they are now creating a new model of inclusive, safe and robust industrialization, and that such a model of innovative cooperation will push the Eurasian region towards more sustainable economic development.
Mr. Li Shiqiu, Deputy Head of the Specialized Committee on Information Technology and Innovation of the China Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology Industrialization, focused on presenting the results of the committee's work on the platform for the promotion of science and technology industrialization. According to his report, the committee has already created a full-cycle service system that includes technology development, evaluation of results and industry combination. The creation of an open cooperation platform will not only promote the innovations of giant companies of large countries, but will also help “small but attractive” highly specialized new technologies make industrial breakthroughs.
Ms. Hu Xiao, President of Chengdu Zhongkeoge Biotechnology Co., Ltd., presented breakthrough developments in xenotransplantation. As a high-tech enterprise in China, Zhongkeoge Biotechnology has successfully bred low-immunogenic donor pigs on the basis of gene editing technology and somatic cell cloning, and started mass production of tissues and organs. Today, the company is actively promoting the clinical transformation of xenotransplantation technology research. In the future, the company plans to introduce artificial intelligence to improve development efficiency.
Innovation moves science and technology forward, while science and technology make the future promising. The success of the session on innovations has given a huge impetus to deepening science and technology cooperation in the Eurasian region. The advanced ideas and practical proposals of the session participants open new ways for international investment and financial cooperation in the field of science, technology and innovation, because it is through real actions that one can implement the concept of the Eurasian Financial and Economic Forum – “Common Cause, Common Construction and Common Exchange”.
