Fedoskino May Present Lacquer Miniature at Shanghai Forum

The Fedoskin Lacquer Miniature Factory has received an invitation to participate in the exhibition and business program of II Eurasian Financial and Economic Forum, scheduled to be held in Shanghai from April 17 to 19, 2026. The initiative has been taken by Financial and Business Association of Euro-Asian Cooperation (FBA EAC), co-organizer of the event alongside Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE).

Negotiations between the parties took place on February 26 at the Fedoskino Factory premises, attended by Ilya Ozolin, General Director of the factory, and Pavel Vorobyov, Executive Director. The Association was represented by Alexander Murychev, Chairman of the Management Board; Alexander Kotlyarsky, Head of the FBA EAC Committee on Industry and First Vice-President of FBA EAC; and Sergey Korotkov, Adviser to the FBA EAC President. The meeting with factory management continued a series of field events with Russian manufacturers initiated by Alexander Kotlyarsky.

Participants noted a shift in approaches to promoting Russian brands internationally. Historically, the focus was primarily on exporting agricultural products, but now, with support from the Russian Export Center, the emphasis is on "exporting meanings" — demonstrating Russian character and culture. The Troika and Fedoskin lacquer miniature are identified as powerful visual symbols of Russia, accessible to international audiences. Discussions also addressed counterfeiting and the incorporation of folk crafts into tourist routes to attract foreign visitors. The necessity of systematic support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Culture was underscored, including the resolution of logistical challenges associated with independent product exports.

Ilya Ozolin expressed positive sentiments regarding the Association's offer to integrate into the forum's exhibition and session programs, noting significant interest in the craft from Chinese and Arab collectors. He recalled that in 2025, with the Russian Export Center support, the factory's jewelry boxes were showcased at an exhibition in China. The factory has a successful track record of participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and the Russia Exhibition at VDNKh.

Cooperation with the Gzhel Association, with which Fedoskino has established partnerships, could be particularly appealing for the Shanghai exposition. Joint expositions or "Russian streets" supported by local representative offices are under consideration for international venues.

The Fedoskin Miniature Lacquer Factory, established in 1795, is Russia's oldest enterprise dedicated to folk art crafts. It is the sole factory to have preserved the classical technology of Russian lacquer painting. Shareholders Evgenia and Sergey Gladkin represent a new wave of Russian business focused on promoting national cultural heritage on the global stage.
