FBA EAC held a working meeting with the delegation of the Republic of Zimbabwe
On July 11, a working meeting with the official delegation of the Republic of Zimbabwe took place at the Moscow office of FBA EAC. Within the framework of an open dialogue, participants discussed the possibilities of expanding trade and economic cooperation, joint investment initiatives, as well as logistics and settlement infrastructure issues.
From the Russian side, the meeting was attended by the heads and experts of FBA EAC, including Alexander Murychev, Chairman of the FBA EAC Board, Nikolay Savelyev, Vice-President of FBA EAC, Sergey Korotkov, Adviser to the FBA EAC President, Margarita Fedotova, Executive Director of FBA EAC, and Manish Kumar, Deputy Chairman of the FBA EAC Board. The Zimbabwean side was represented by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe Rajeshkumar Modi, as well as representatives of the Ministry and the diplomatic corps.
Opening the meeting, Alexander Murychev spoke about the expansion of the geography of the FBA EAC’s activities and the shift towards practical interaction between business, financial institutions and national regulators. It was emphasized that today FBA EAC is an international platform for combining business interests within Greater Eurasia and beyond it, from Asia to Africa.
The Zimbabwean side expressed interest in strengthening the bilateral dialogue in such areas as the development of industry, agriculture, energy and pharmacy. The participants also discussed the need for supplies of equipment, machinery, food products, as well as the possibility of localizing some industries.
The parties paid special attention to logistics, reliability of supplies and financial settlements in the new conditions of the global economy. During the discussion, the participants touched upon the prospects for the development of cooperation between Russian and African companies, as well as financial structures, taking into account modern challenges and limitations in the international payment system.
Alevtina Donenko, CEO of the Territory of Business Communications and Consulting company, also spoke at the meeting. She talked about a number of current projects and expressed her willingness to build practical cooperation with Zimbabwean parties in the field of product and machinery supplies, educational programs and investment consulting.
As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the dialogue and begin preparing a comprehensive plan of cooperation. The participation of the delegation of the Republic of Zimbabwe in the upcoming forums and events of FBA EAC is tentatively scheduled. The Russian side, in its turn, is considering the possibility of a study visit to Zimbabwe.
The working contact will be maintained on regular basis, with the involvement of business representatives, industry experts and financial institutions.
