FBA EAC Continues to Expand Partner Network
FBA EAC General Director and Editor-in-Chief of the FBA EAC Herald Anna Bezdudnaya held a working meeting with Valentin Babkin, General Director of KorBet LLC, following negotiations held the previous day. On June 9, Advisor to the President of FBA EAC and Senior Advisor to the Head of the UNIDO Office in Russia Sergey Korotkov, along with Valentin Babkin, discussed prospects for cooperation and the possibility of the company joining the Association. During the meeting with Anna Bezdudnaya, Valentin Babkin focused on providing a comprehensive overview of his company's operations.
KorBet specializes in manufacturing structural blocks for box-type retaining walls. The technology, adapted for the Russian market, enables the construction of retaining walls up to 30 meters high without the use of wet construction processes. The blocks are installed on a crushed stone base with backfilling, eliminating the need for concrete pouring and allowing for year-round construction.
The design features high seismic resistance (up to 9 on the seismic scale), provides effective drainage, and requires no additional decorative finishing, as the face of the block already features a natural stone texture. The lifespan of such a wall exceeds 50 years, while its construction cost is two to four times lower than that of monolithic alternatives.
The technology is highly versatile: it is suitable for reinforcing road embankments and slopes, shoreline protection, dam construction, terraced landscaping, and the creation of containment sarcophagi at municipal solid waste landfills. Thanks to their flexible design, the blocks enable the implementation of complex radial and angular configurations, including inner and outer corners, which is particularly valuable for architects and designers.
To date, over 50,000 square meters of retaining walls have been constructed using these blocks. In 2021, the technology was utilized in the construction of overpasses along the M-12 Moscow–Kazan highway (Phase 0, Pavlovo-Posadsky District), as well as during Phases 7 and 8 in the Republic of Tatarstan.
Anna Bezdudnaya highly commended the company's potential and expressed confidence that KorBet joining FBA EAC would not only strengthen the manufacturer's position in the Russian market but also open up new opportunities for international cooperation, including participation in infrastructure projects across the Eurasian space. The parties also discussed in detail the organizational matters related to formalizing KorBet's membership in the Association.
