FBA EAC participated in an expanded meeting of the Council of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation dedicated to the strategic opportunities of the event industry
On July 2, 2025, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation hosted an expanded meeting of the Working Group on the Development of the Event Industry of the Council of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation for Financial, Industrial and Investment Policy. The topic of the meeting — “Event Industry: Cultural Events as a Driver of Economic Development and a Tool to Enhance the Image of Regions and Countries” — attracted the attention of experts, business representatives, the academic community and government authorities.
Margarita Fedotova, Executive Director of FBA EAC, delivered a key report. In her speech on the topic “From a Cultural Event to an Economic Driver: Synergies and Experience of FBA EAC in the Eurasian space (using China as an example)”, Margarita Fedotova presented specific cases of the transformation of cultural initiatives into sustainable economic formats, including the example of the Eurasian Financial and Economic Forum in Shanghai, held in April 2025.
The meeting was moderated by Marina Nesterenko, Head of the FBA EAC Committee on International Cooperation and Tourism, as well as Head of the Working Group on the Development of the Event Industry of the Council of RF CCI. The discussion focused on real practices of integrating culture and economics, the development of business tourism, as well as international projects.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Moscow, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Economic Development, State Duma, regional chambers of Commerce and Industry, Russian Union of Travel Industry, Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Rossotrudnichestvo, Association of Tour Operators of Russia, Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs.
The participants not only discussed issues facing the industry, but also formed a common understanding of how the event industry can become a full-fledged growth point — for regions, for businesses, and for international dialogue. The work continues, and today it is especially important that such initiatives have support from both the government and the business community.
The proposals and initiatives announced at the meeting will be summarized in a final resolution, which will be sent to the relevant federal executive authorities and other interested structures.
