Khorgos is the largest dry port in Central Asia, a strategic hub on the shortest China–Central Asia–Europe route, and a key platform for the Belt and Road Initiative. The bulk of mutual trade and cargo traffic passes through Khorgos, while the special regime of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and comprehensive state support make the territory highly attractive for long-term investments. As noted by the President of the Association of Banks of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bakhytbek Baiseitov, Khorgos is a "point of physical contact between two giant markets": the EAEU market and the Asian economy, primarily China.
The forum in Khorgos is positioned as a practical tool for facilitating deals, forging partnerships, and accessing capital. October 17: Cultural program: visit to the Ash Grove (Yasenevaya Roshcha) and Charyn Canyon.

From October 15 to 17, 2026, Khorgos will host the III Euro-Asian Financial and Economic Forum (EAEFF) , an international event designed to foster dialogue among financial institutions, government bodies, investors, technology companies, and the real sector of the Eurasian economy. The forum is organized by the Association of Banks of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the Akimats of the Jetisu and Almaty regions.
