FBA EAC Plans to Establish a BRICS Division for Systematic International Engagement

At its Board meeting on June 30, 2026, a strategic decision was made to establish a dedicated BRICS countries division. This step marks the Association's transition from ad hoc, country-specific initiatives to a systematic and highly effective operational model within the bloc, which is under India's chairmanship in 2026.

It was proposed to concentrate efforts on systematic engagement within the BRICS framework, a move that is particularly timely given India's current chairmanship of the bloc. Furthermore, FBA EAC already officially participates in two working groups of the BRICS Business Council, providing a solid foundation for further deepening this cooperation.

The newly established BRICS division will enable comprehensive coverage of all member countries of the bloc—including India, China, Brazil, South Africa, and others—prevent functional duplication among committees, and ensure a systematic, rather than fragmented, presence of the Association within this key international format. The Association's ongoing work within the two BRICS Business Council working groups will serve as a cornerstone for the practical activities of the new division.

Among the priority tasks are facilitating the removal of administrative and regulatory barriers, promoting settlements in national currencies, advancing high-tech industries (IT, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence), supporting joint ventures and investment projects, and strengthening humanitarian and educational ties.
